Thursday, June 27th  is our school-wide PLAY DAY and EARLY DISMISSAL! As we will be outside, students should dress for the weather, bring a water bottle, and come with sunscreen already applied (teachers cannot help with this task). We will be celebrating Play Day by having Freezies! If you do not want your child to have a school-provided Freezie on this day, please email me as soon as possible and send an alternative treat to school for your child to enjoy. We will be finished school this day at 1:05 p.m. as it is an early dismissal day! Our theme for Play Day this year is... Dress like a SUPERHERO!

Our learning in English Language Arts:  We learned about how to segment (take apart) two-syllable words to read it fully We learned about "The Important Book" and talked about what important means. We wrote about something important to us and the reasons why! After, we practiced giving our classmates feedback saying something we liked and something we could add to our work Our learning in Math: We learned about fact families and inverse equations this week. This is when we use both addition and subtraction to think about numbers. For example, we could think of 4 + 3 = 7 and 3 + 4 = 7, or 7 - 4 = 3 and 7 - 3 = 4 We practiced our subtraction with different games We finished Charlotte's Web and created our favourite characters out of clay! Ask me what character I made!

Please return any library books that are still at home on Monday! All library books were due back on Wednesday, June 5th.  Our learning in English Language Arts: We learned about oa and ow in different words and how they sound like o's name We wrote about a special day, real or imagined, that we would love to do. Ask me what I wrote about! We listened to a few more family presentations!  Our learning in Science: We observed the changes in our plants this week! We also transplanted another plant and got to see what the roots look like out of the dirt! We also worked really hard on our habitat trioramas! We were able to choose 2 plants and 2 animals from that habitat to sculpt out of clay! These will be coming home next week.

Our learning in English Language Arts & Literature: We learned how to read words with the suffix -le this week! These are words like turtle, humble, and apple! We continued researching rabbits. This week we focused on the rabbit's habitat and predators, and sketched the parts of a rabbit with labels! Our learning in Math: We started learning about subtraction this week! We learned about how to put the bigger number first and how to use different strategies to help us solve the questions. Our learning in Science: We started learning about the needs of plants and animals this week!  We focused on what are living things and non-living things are and how to sort them. This started some really interesting conversations! We began germinating pea seeds to see how they grow. We looked at the parts of a sunflower, labelled important parts of the plant, and learned why these parts are important! We went outside with magnifying glasses to explore nature! Our learning in Social Studi...

Our learning in English Language Arts: We learned when we need to use "tch" and "ch" in our spelling! We use "tch" in words that have a short vowel right before that sound (such as pitch). We use "ch" when there is a consonant before that sound (such as lunch) We started learning about rabbits this week! We will be focusing on researching about rabbits to learn about their diet, habitat, important body parts, and predators. Ask me what I found out about rabbits this week (hint: it's something they eat!) Our learning in Math: We have been learning about different kinds of graphs. We learned about a concrete graph (a graph with real objects) and a pictograph (a graph made with pictures) Our field trip to TELUS Spark! We had SO much fun at the science centre this week! We learned about how to make habitats for different animals, what animals need, and how we can help them in the environment. We had fun exploring the other exhibits in the science...
