May 27-31, 2024
All library books must be returned by Wednesday, June 5! Please help Mrs. Barrowcliff by returning your book as soon as possible. If we get our books in first, we get a prize!
Our learning in English Language Arts:
- We reviewed how to read words with "King Ed". This is when a word has an 'e' at the end and makes the vowel say its letter name. For example, words like make, cone, and kite.
- We finished our non-fiction research booklet about rabbits.
Our learning in Math:
- We learned different strategies for answering subtraction problems. We thought about how to solve these questions using pictures, ten frames, counting back in our heads, and using our fingers.
Our learning in Science:
- We explored animal artifacts this week! We were able to see what different types of eggs, feathers, nests, and animal teeth looked like. We really enjoyed exploring these different artifacts.
- We also planted our pea seeds this week!
- We are working on a triorama project to help us finish our unit in science. We chose a habitat in Alberta and drew it on a paper - but we made it 3D! More pictures to come of that next week!
Our learning in our Community:
- Thank you once again to the families who worked so hard on our family heritage projects! We loved learning about our classmates.

Students who walk or wheel (on a bike, scooter, roller blades or skateboard) three or more days during that week, will have their name entered into a draw to win a scooter and a helmet, donated by the Ward Three City Councilor's office.
During the week of June 3-7, teachers will take a few minutes each morning to track and celebrate how their students are getting to school. The draw for the scooter and helmet will be on Monday, June 10 and we will announce the winner in the June 14 Northern Lights News.
