March 11-15, 2024
Thank you for offering to volunteer!
I appreciate all the parents who have replied with interest in volunteering and to take the steps required to help out on our field trip. You are an important part of being able to go on off-site activities! Thank you!
We have new bags to keep our library books protected!
Please help the school keep our library books safe by keeping the books in our new bags. These bags can go back and forth between home and school. Please return books by Wednesday to borrow a new one!
Our learning in English Language Arts:
- We explored two new sounds: oi and oy! We learned about how to recognize them in words and how to figure out which one to use when writing.
- We explored our next sacred teaching - wisdom! We learned that the Beaver represents wisdom because they have a gift and uniquely use their gift.
- We wrote about a time when someone shared their gifts and taught us how to do something. Ask me what I wrote about!
- We also explored the Medicine Wheel and the sacred teachings that we have learned so far. We connected each teaching (respect, love, courage, honesty, and wisdom) with a section of the Medicine Wheel. The students knew exactly where each one fit in the Medicine Wheel and wrote down things they do for their spirits, hearts, bodies, and minds.
Our learning in Math:
- We have been learning about indirect measurement. This is when we take general measurements with string and compare the lengths together.
- We compared...
- The distance from our belly buttons to our heads in comparison to the distance from our belly buttons to our feet.
- The amount of string needed to navigate through a maze.
- The length of different bunnies and their ears.
- We continued working on our Fast Facts and played math games to continue practicing!
- We played with the number line and challenged ourselves to put numbers in the right order without talking.
Our learning in Science:
- We continued to learn about the ways that animals and objects move. We chose a variety of movements such as flying, crawling, and swimming. We drew pictures of animals that move in those ways!
- We also explored rolling and sliding in the Makerspace with our ramp designs.
Our learning in Phys Ed & Music:
- We have been playing "mat games" in gym! We played different games like tag and running through to dodge balls our friends were throwing!
- In music, we have been playing with the Djembe drums! Ask me what my favourite part is!
